Cavalcata Trans-Nuova Zelanda da costa a costa (8 giorni)

Cavalcate lungo una fantastica spiaggia dalla sabbia bianca, verso un lago d'acqua dolce circondato da bochi di pini, seguite un antico sentiero attraverso le dune e la savana. Quindi procedete nella foresta tropicale verso Whangaripo ed oltre, verso la catena montuosa di Matakana. Pernottamento in case di legno.
Da qui seguite il corso del grande fiume del nord, l' Hoteo. Cavalcata verso lo spettacolare monte Kaipara. Dalla sua cima si possono avvistare entrambe le coste dell'Isola del nord della Nuova Zelanda. Il percorso ci conduce oltre, attraverso campi fertili. L'ultimo giorno, viaggio seguendo la corrente, verso Glori nel porto di Kaipara. Da qui intraprendete un viaggio di piacere di 4 ore, a bordo della MV Joy per Helensville. Pranzo a bordo.

Itinerary
Day 1 Meeting in Auckland around 2:30 PM and travel to Pakiri Beach. Time for an introductory ride along the beach to get to know your horse. Dinner with your hosts Sharley and Laly then overnight in the beach house.
Day 2 After a hearty breakfast depart for a full days riding along the white sands of the beautiful east coast beach of Pakiri, following an ancient Ngati Wai warrior trail. Lunch at fresh water Lake Tomarata in the pine forest. Then, ride on over Te Arai Point enjoy spectacular coastal views to the out lying islands Hauturu (Little Barrier) Aotea (Great Barrier), Taranga (the Hen and Chickens) and the Mokohinau, and return along the beach. If you are specially lucky you may see the dolphins and ride with them. Overnight at bush camp or beach house. (Approx. 6 hours riding)
Day 3 Today you will ride over green farmland through New Zealand native rain forest. You will follow an old kauri logging track through Whangaripo Valley to the top of the Matakana Hill. You will pass through beef and dairy cattle and sheep farms. Te Whio sheep farm, having very interesting history. Overnight in homestay “on top of the world”, high above the valley with a warm friendly New Zealand family who live on the edge of the State Forest and the source of the Hoteo River. Enjoy the spectacular views from their home. (Approx. 6 hours riding)
Day 4 A more leisurely ride through the Dome State Forest-a pine forest and some native bush, following logging roads to Spring Hill Stud Farm, where we will ride over some very picturesque farmland. After we have settled the horses we will visit a small town bar El Tapora in Wellsford and much later return to Springhill for a real country experience camping overnight in the shearing shed. BBQ. or takeaway dinner. ( Approx. 5hrs riding)
Day 5 Depart Spring Hill Farm passing under State Highway One following the Hoteo River. We travel over the Whisky Hill farm, along the tree lined edge of the Hoteo river to enter the Kaipara State Forest, where we follow logging tracks through the pines. Stopping for lunch by the pretty Awarere water fall and then continuing on through pine forest to a real bush hut with magnificent views to both coasts. We over night here and enjoy a wonderful meal with our hosts. (Approx. 7 hours riding)
Day 6 We start our riding over a beautiful hill country sheep and beef cattle farm enjoying spectacular views over to both coasts. We follow the Hoteo River as it continues its path to its mouth in the West. Then we ride along a remote dirt road through rugged and spectacular hill country with views to the west coast over the Kaipara Harbour. This is New Zealand’s largest water mass and also boasts the most treacherous bar to its entry. We ride down very steep country to State Highway 16 which we cross to Mataia farm ,riding through long grassy flat savannah type lands, stands of native bush and climb to an ancient Maori Pa site where the views over the Kaipara Harbour are breath taking. We continue over this lovely farm on the edge of the harbour in a loop stopping to spend the night in the lovely historic old Mataia Homestead built of kauri in the 1800s. (Approx. 9 hours riding)
Day 7 After breakfast we load the horses on to the truck and drive a short distance to Rimmer Rd Helensville stopping on the way for a quick beer at the Kaukapakapa Pub. Today we ride through the Woodhill Forest to the sea…the WEST coast with its black sand and wild seas so different from the East we have come from! A gallop down the beach (if the tides out) and lunch in the forest and return to the truck where you can either go immediately back to your accommodation in Auckland city or drive back to Pakiri for a last meal together maybe a hangi ( a meal cooked in the ground in the traditional Maori way) if there is a large group of you. Then a late transfer to your accommodation in Auckland . (Approx. 4 hours riding)
Day 8 Morning ride on pakiri beach and departure to Aukland at 11:30 AM.

As is the tradition in the New Zealand high country we do walk and lead our horses down steep hills so it is essential that you wear good trekking / hiking type boots.
